Erbil is maybe the world’s oldest continuously inhabited city. It was born during the early Mesopotamian civilizations, around 10.000 years ago.

Today we skipt the plan to visit the center of Jiyan Foundation in Kirkuk because of safety reasons and went directly to Dschamdschamãl. It seems that last night the Peshmerga again killed or captured IS Fighters in Kirkuk.
Visit to Khanke – a refugee camp for Yezidis in Kurdistan / North of Iraq
Coming from Beirut I arrived yesterday late afternoon in Erbil. It’s the capitol city of the Kurdish state in North Iraq around 80 km south east of Mosul. Since 2014 EKHN is supporting the Jiyan Foundation for Human Rights which is working with refugees in this region.

Beirut – a city struggling with the past
I arrived Sunday late afternoon in the busy capitol of Lebanon. I’m staying in the Near East School of Theology in the Hamra Area of Beirut near to the Mediterranean Sea opposite to the huge area of AUB – the American University of Beirut. These days in Beirut are a mixture between holidays and keeping contacts to EKHN partners in Lebanon.

Verleihung der Buber-Rosenzweig-Medaille
Heute Morgen konnte ich in Hannover an der diesjährigen Eröffnung der Woche der Brüderlichkeit des Deutschen Koordinierungsrates der Gesellschaften für Christlich-Jüdische Zusammenarbeit teilnehmen. Im Rahmen der Eröffnung wurde die Buber-Rosenzweig-Medaille an Prof. Dr. Micha Brumlik verliehen.
