Erbil is maybe the world’s oldest continuously inhabited city. It was born during the early Mesopotamian civilizations, around 10.000 years ago.
Today we skipt the plan to visit the center of Jiyan Foundation in Kirkuk because of safety reasons and went directly to Dschamdschamãl. It seems that last night the Peshmerga again killed or captured IS Fighters in Kirkuk.
Coming from Beirut I arrived yesterday late afternoon in Erbil. It’s the capitol city of the Kurdish state in North Iraq around 80 km south east of Mosul. Since 2014 EKHN is supporting the Jiyan Foundation for Human Rights which is working with refugees in this region.

Yesterday we had a full day in Byblos which is today named Jbeil. A very impressive ancient place with a documented history back to 6.000 BC.

I arrived Sunday late afternoon in the busy capitol of Lebanon. I’m staying in the Near East School of Theology in the Hamra Area of Beirut near to the Mediterranean Sea opposite to the huge area of AUB – the American University of Beirut. These days in Beirut are a mixture between holidays and keeping contacts to EKHN partners in Lebanon.
A whole day we walked through Kazimierz – one of the historical districts of Kraków. A wonderful place; enjoy pictures and some information about this part of Kraków Old Town.
